After walking all night to watch the sunrise from a volcano in Panama

It's a strange concept at first, that we may not be free. I imagine that many people could reject or be resistant to the idea, so I want to explain what is meant by this.

Have you ever wanted to do something, no matter how big or small, and not done it because of the fear that you might be judged, humiliated, rejected, or disliked?

Have you ever felt like something really needs to be said but you don't say it because of the same reason?

Or have you been in a bad mood that you have no control of, and it ruins your whole day, not to mention those who stand in your way! ;-)

The freedom that I am talking of is to feel the fear and do it anyway. It is to know that you feel grumpy but that it doesn't have to affect your day. It is to know that you have the power to choose how you want to be, even in the most stressful and difficult moments.

I have always been quite confident and outspoken, but I have suffered with low moods and crippling anxiety. I severely judged myself if I wasn't at my best, and I compared myself to other people a lot. I think that I was very fortunate to have the mum that I had growing up, because she always let me have my freedom, she never made me feel like the world was a scary place, and she made me feel like I could handle what came my way. Because of her trust, I travelled the world, took risks, worked smart and lived very well. But even though I had this freedom, I still felt very limited in my day to day life. I noticed that I made myself small around people I considered to be better than me. I didn't learn new things because I didn't like the beginning period where I had to put in the effort to learn, I gave up things that I liked because I put too much pressure on myself to always be the best, and I didn't allow myself to be loved, because surely I would end up disappointing us both.

After my friend passed away and I started to self-reflect, I became aware of all the little things that I did or didn't do because of fear and assumption. I noticed how I would isolate myself from people because I didn't feel like I could relax around them, that they would find me boring if I didn't make them laugh, or that I had to do something to be liked and accepted. This of course affected my happiness. We are tribal people and if you haven't already watched it then I recommend 'Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones' on Netlfix, because it is evident that having positive supportive people around you is important for a long and happy life.

So my point here is that there are many fears that we hold in our mind, from our past experiences and those that we have absorbed from the people we grew up with, and when we start living from our heart and not our fear based mind, we live free, how we want to live, and how we choose to be.

All of the services that I offer from Freedom From Thought support this process. A wise man used to say that the longest journey travelled is the one from the head to the heart, it is also the most important one.
